There really is no reason for us to "aim low" or embrace mediocrity, because doing so will hold us back from our becoming and leave us feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied. By aiming low, one may achieve ones mark, but that mark will not bring you closer to real growth and accomplishment in your life; nor will it add a greater sense of purpose and meaning, or value and worth to it.
I believe that it is important that we set our sights high-that will put us in the position to experience necessary growth and change in our lives, force us to step outside of our comfort zones, and push ourselves harder and further than we might otherwise have done. If you allow yourself to settle for less- be it a house, a car, a spouse, a job, a vacation, or any other goal you might wish to attain, you could end up in regrets!
And yet, this concept of only aiming high can be a bit misleading, for I feel that perhaps one of the best motivators on the journey towards our goals is a series of successes. At times, we simply need that feeling of accomplishment, no matter how small, in order to give ourselves confidence in our ability to reach our target, and to show us that we are moving in the right direction. This makes our efforts for continuous improvement much easier and strengthens our resolve as we move to take on the next challenge, to learn the next thing, to accomplish the next project.
