The great people of the world- that is, those who have "arrived"- are not very different from you, or me, or the rest of us- all of us are about the same at the base. You have only to meet them to see how very much"ordinary" they are, after all. But, don't forget the fact that they know how to use the material that is in them; while the rest of the crowd does not, and, in fact, even doubts whether the true stuff is there.

Most of us have never really taken the time to visit within ourselves long enough to discover our own truths, much less live by them. And if we were to do so, those truths may frighten or worry us, for there is a good chance that the truths we have adopted from our exposure to outward things- the ones most of us have come to depend on for security, assurance, confidence, and comfort- are really not valid at all. We might instead discover that the truths within us are much more compassionate, kind, caring, forgiving, understanding, loving, and purposeful. For instance, many of us who have been hurt by others in the past, have put up walls to prevent others from getting close to us and to keep us safe. And while we may believe we are safe, the truth is quite the opposite: our isolation actually increases our hurt, sadness, loneliness, misery, and suffering.

There is an inmost center in us all. But sadly, it is all too often a forgotten place; a place that many of us simply do not choose to visit or explore, and some may never go there at all. And that is truly a shame, for it is there where love abides; and in love, truly unconditional love, we have more authentic truth available to us than in any other aspect of our lives, for in it there is no concern with outward things.

The truth is, what we believe to be the truth, and what actually is the truth, are not necessarily connected!

We all can create positive contributions in the world and make a difference in the lives of those around us, even if we do not always receive recognition or positive responses. As long as we shine forth the healing and wholesome light from within--compassion, love, kindness, mercy, empathy, forgiveness, gratitude, joy--and allow that light to rest upon ourselves as well, we will find that our days are much brighter and more fulfilling.

Even if our contribution is but a single candle flame, the light of the world relies upon each and every single candle, and no candle is worth less than any other is.

When we seek only to bring happiness to ourselves, we often find that it is fleeting and eludes our grasp; yet when we seek to bring it to others, it finds us and becomes a permanent residence in our lives.

Why should anything be too good for you? Did you ever stop to think just what you are? You are a manifestation of the Whole Thing, and have a perfect right to all there is. Or, if you prefer it this way, you are a child of the Infinite, and are heir to it all. You are telling the truth in either statement, or both. At any rate, no matter what you ask, you are merely demanding your
own. And the more in earnest you are about demanding it - the more confident you are of receiving it! Think about this truth! Nothing is too good for you!

I am a firm believer of true friendship; and there are still friends that stick closer than brothers. Still, some friends back down because of so many reasons.
I found out that there are so many factors that contribute to their uncertain behaviours; and here are some:

Because you have a great personality and as such they cannot meet up with your standard.

You play by a different set of rules and as such they cannot and will never understand you.

The person you are trying to let in to your life does not deserve to be your friend.

You have better friendship with someone other than them.

Such friend(s) always claim to be right and always force their opinions on you.

Their pasts have a strong hold on them.

You have a stronger family background than they.

You took them as friends more than they took you.

You deserve better friends of like minds.

Listen friend, you must love yourself and appreciate yourself; this is the only way remain a winner in the market place. Stop depending on other people's opinions to run your own lives affairs.

Whatever your task, whatever your obstacles, you can be as successful as anyone else. Study the people who accomplished recognition in the areas of your pursuit.

How did they achieve their goals?

Whether you want millions of dollars, recognition as an artist, or personal freedom, you have the ability to make your life as rich as you want.

Think about what you most desire.
It may not be hard cash, but what it can buy.

Or, it may be those feelings of inner satisfaction, from creating something beautiful or strong...

Maybe personal independence from the work week, or freedom to live anywhere you want...even something meaningful and significant in life- something other than things money can buy.

Whatever your goals, and however difficult they seem to be to accomplish, you have the inherent ability to become who you want.

Take a look-  can you actually lucidly see yourself surrounded by riches?

Picture the world open and in front of you, ready to become the form of your dreams, ready to stage your desires.

Learning is one attribute of great achievers. Due to the constant change of the human body and the environment, it is very necessary to constantly renew yourself by learning new ways of doing things which I call 'survival skill'.

Remember that perceptions are formed as well as changed when you expose your mind to relevant information through learning and reading. The wider access to information you have, the more fine-tuned your perception will become. The life of continuous learning is one of the attributes and character of people who lead in different capacities because they understand that the moment they stop exposing their minds to updated information as the society and industry evolve, they will become obsolete.

It then means that, if we are not constantly learning as we go about our day-to-day business, then each day we are getting further and further out of touch with the demands of the modern working world. Therefore as you experience your environment and all that comes with it, be willing to be taught as much as you are ready to share your thoughts, taking every step of enthusiasm to continually be on top of your game, learning and honing new skills that will in time distinguish you from the usual and above all, moving you closer and closer to fulfillment as you carry out your life task with diligence and tenacity of purpose!

Sex is good. Pillow talk is better. Sex is easy, intimacy is difficult. It requires honesty, openness, self-disclosure, confiding concerns, fears, sadness as well as hopes and dreams!

How many couples can genuinely boast of having their intimacies intact? Couples hide things from each other, especially money. What's love got to do with it anyways? You could lose the very "essence" if you do not go back to your true love- how it all began. Couples forget that the genuine ones (wives and husbands) will always want the best for their spouses.

There are things that lift our hearts and spirits such as music and song, and acts of kindness and compassion. There simply are so many things that can remind us that looking at the life all around can be one of the greatest joys of all, and it is effortless and free.

Allow yourself the gift of experiencing the abundant life that surrounds you. See. Feel. Hear. Taste. Laugh. Love. Sigh. Cry. Appreciate. Say thank you. Focus on those things that we often miss when our thoughts only revolve around us or on our own little worlds.

You are what you pay attention to! What do you pay attention to?

Affirmations are positive declarations used to re-program our subconscious minds in order to eliminate any negativity that stands in the way of our pursuing our dreams. Positive affirmations can make you feel stronger and help you make the most positive and wisest choices.

It would be easier for you to achieve whatever you want if you use positive visualization and affirmations in everything that you do. It is considered as one of the most powerful and effective strategies that you can take advantage of if you want to change your life for the better.

You can create your own positive affirmations with the use of simple language to express or showcase the message that you want to convey. It is advisable that you make your affirmations in a clear and concise manner and written in the present tense. You also have to make sure that they are written in a first person narrative, I AM! Get speaking now and watch your life change for the best!

Whatever you dream of, you will be closer to attaining such dream if you have a positive focused mindset.

We all spend a lot of time wearing down our psyches- our logical and intellectual minds, and our emotional souls- sometimes even to their breaking points. We let our bodies unwind after are a long day of work, or sleep when they are drowsy and tired, but we seldom consider rest for our minds and spirits. But our psyches also need to be strengthened, nourished, and renewed to their full potential.

Take a break now and then. It may not seem like a lot can come from a day in which we seek nothing, do nothing, want nothing, and produce nothing, but such days recharge us, fulfill us, and strengthen our sinews so that we can be at our best--so we can be whole. Suffice it to say, that sometimes nothing is exactly the something that we need to keep us going.

You do not need fight Worry - that is not the way to overcome the habit. Just practice concentration, and then learn to concentrate upon something right before you, and you will find that the worry thought has vanished.

The mind can think of but one thing at a time, and if you concentrate upon a bright thing, the other thing will fade away. There are better ways of overcoming objectionable thoughts than by fighting them. Learn to concentrate upon thoughts of an opposite character, and the problem is solved.

When the mind is full of worry thoughts, it cannot find time to work out plans to benefit you. But when you have concentrated on bright, helpful thoughts, you will discover that it will start to work subconsciously; and when the time comes you will find all sorts of plans and methods by which you will be able to meet the demands on you.

Keep your mental attitude right, and all things will be added unto you. There is no sense in worrying; nothing has ever been gained by it, and nothing ever will be. Bright, cheerful and happy thoughts attract bright, cheerful and happy things to us - worry drives them away. Cultivate the right mental attitude.

The things around you are not just the ones that can bring you down. Sometimes, there are certain types of people who will discourage you and make you think and see life in a negative Sadly, seeing things negatively leaves no room for your positive sides to grow.

People Who Insist That You Should Be Someone Else

Be proud of who you are! You have to create your own identity and not the one that is copied from others.
There is no better feelings than to know that the people around you accept you for who you are and not the one they want you to become.

Unfortunately, there are people who do not see and appreciate the developments that you made for yourself that speak of who you really are. They keep on insisting that you will become a better person if you become someone else. Of all people, it is you who knows what is best for you. You can experience real success, love, and happiness if you chose to be who you are and not a second version of someone else.

Let the people around you love and respect you for who you are, and do not conform to please them or feel threatened if you do not become who they want to be!

Do you love life? Then do not waste or squander the precious time made available to you. It is your time... and just as we need to be aware of how we spend our money, we need to be even more conscious and careful of the ways in which we spend our time!

What does my spiritual garden look like? Have I planted the right seeds? Have I tended to it lately- watering and nourishing the season's growth and removing any weeds? The time and effort I pour forth into my spiritual life provides sustenance for my soul and spills over into all the other aspects of my life- physical, emotional, and intellectual.

We eat when we are hungry and drink when we are thirsty; yet when our souls hunger for joy and happiness, for purpose and meaning, for wonder and beauty, for kindness and compassion, for positive and uplifting experiences, we often neglect that core of who we are. And at what cost? What kind of long-term effect does such neglect have upon us, and what impact does such malnutrition of the soul have on those we love? Add beauty to your life by feeding your soul.

If you know what I am talking about, can you share with us how you feed your soul? We'd love to hear it.

Cherish your visions, your ideals, the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes from the purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, everything you have ever thought of from the purest of heart, if you but remain true to them.

Remember that to desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve. Ask and receive!

Think of some problems in your life that have turned out to be blessings. How did they seem originally? What would have happened if you had been able to avoid the problem?

Wednesday, 14 September 2016

Most of us desire others to be authentic- we want others to be themselves around us and not feel like they have to be fake. But because we are often unaware of how much of an impact we play in keeping others from being open and honest with us- or at least we do not think about it enough -we sabotage such a relationship.

We do not listen closely enough to their needs and concerns or we pass judgment on their thoughts, words, and actions; we fail to take them seriously or make them feel important and valuable.

Our goal as a friend should be simple: to be there as a comfortable companion who is experiencing a similar journey through life- pray with them, no need to fix them, no need to change them, and no need to control them.

Tuesday, 13 September 2016

The ladder has many steps leading to the top but only one step leads to the next level; step by step you find yourself at the top. In every area of life, patience is required if you must succeed and sing the conquerors song at last. When answers to prayers don't come as promptly as you desire them, you need patience to persevere and wait for your change to come. Patience will always have the last smile because GOD will always honour those who honour HIM.

There are a lot of happy people out there. Chances are, you know a few of them. They are those people that just go about life, and no matter what their situation is, they seem to be happy.

There doesn’t seem to be a thing on this planet that is able to shake them. They are clearly the ‘glass is always half-full’ types, and it doesn’t seem to matter if it is hot, cold, windy, rainy, sunny, or anything.

They can be dealing with the unthinkable in their lives, or they could be running on cloud nine all the time, with life handed to them in a gift wrapped package. There are times you think you can blame your unhappiness and their happiness on what they are doing or given, but then you realize there are those that may be unwell and they are still happy.

In fact, they may be dressed well, dressed poorly, rich, poor, struggling… who knows? Yet they always seem to be happy. It is almost as if you can’t bring them down even if you tried.

Of course there are the other people in the world, too. Those that have everything handed to them, and have the most cushioned life that someone could ask for, yet nothing is ever good enough. They manage to find fault in everything, even if it is something they thought they wanted.

A few days ago I landed at the Bombay Airport (India) and took a cab to my scheduled destination in South Bombay.

I was enjoying the busy traffic with people rushing in every possible directions then we got stranded at a very busy intersection.

As we waited for the signal to turn green, my eyes met up with a poor young boy, about 12 years old. He removed a piece of bread from his pocket and took a bite.

As he was about to take his next bite, a stray dog wagged his tail looking at him. Without hesitation, he sat down and put the bread on the road for the dog to eat.

The dog sniffed the bread and walked away. The boy waited until he was sure the dog was gone then he picked up the bread and ate it!

My heart cried and wanted to walk up to the boy but before I could open the door the signal turned Green and our car drove away. I kept thinking about the boy and later during my evening meal I realized that I was thinking of approaching the boy but never did, I could have stopped the car and walked up to him which again I never did.

All I did was “thinking” and this poor little boy who had only one piece of bread without any hesitation sharing it with the dog, though he himself seemed to be very hungry.

I learnt one of the biggest lessons in my life which that boy taught me without a conversation. He taught me to share with love and happiness. I am so blessed to have learnt this beautiful lesson from my ‘little unknown master’. It is my moral duty to share this incident with all my friends across the globe and be blessed with happiness.

Thank you friends for making this world a beautiful place to dwell.

By Dr. Derrick Angelsz

Deliberately seeking solitude-quality time spent away from family and friends- may seem selfish. It is not! Solitude is as necessary for our creative spirits to develop and flourish as are sleep and food for our bodies to survive.

Our lives truly become richer when we treasure each moment within them. And it is our act of cherishing and appreciating them that truly makes them into the very treasures that they have the potential to be.

If you are not sure of what makes you happy, or know how to make yourself happy, you are never going to achieve that happiness. You think that it is impossible for us to be unhappy if you get that one thing that you have been longing for, but you don’t stop to think of how it always works out in the end. Happiness is a state of being, and does not have anything to do with what you have or what you don't have!

So many of our failures and deficiencies in life were/are a result of our impatience, of our aversion toward taking our time and allowing things to come to fruition. But life works in its own time. And not only does impatience rarely lead to the desired result, it also breeds stress, anger, frustration, and a whole slew of negative emotions that are straight-up bad for our health.

A lot of people get frustrated while learning  new things/skills- to read, to write, to ride a bike, to swim, to play the piano, to solve a puzzle, to fish, even to give their children a very good training etc, and want to call it quits because they feel they are not good enough after only a few attempts. Here is a wonderful reminder that you have your whole lifetime ahead of you to learn anything you want to learn; and that practice over time yields positive and measurable results.

Patience is a virtue. And despite all the influences in our lives trying to convince us that things need to be done much quicker, we have a responsibility and a right to take life at our own pace and to truly live it and enjoy it. We need to slow down, and we need to teach our children how to slow down too, so that generations to come can discover the beauty and power of patience.

Our attitude determines our altitude in life. When we experience failure or things do not go our way, we do not have to let it bring us down. Obstacles are not a reason for us to give up, but rather an opportunity for us to learn, to grow, to become something greater than we were before. "So what if my manuscript was rejected. I can write another one!" This is the spirit and mindset of champions; one that acts as a catalyst for personal growth and success.

Writing was a driving force for Anthony Trollope. It was something that he most likely could not have given up even if he wanted to, for he had a natural talent and ability and he was very dedicated to his craft. It was this level of commitment that allowed him--or perhaps forced him--to begin a new novel immediately after being rejected. For you see, that level of commitment to any art helps us to find strength, courage, and determination to persevere in even the most unfavorable of circumstances.

Each of us will face obstacles and setbacks in life, for we are all sailing our vessels at the mercy of the sea. But if we let the storms of life hold us at a standstill or dissuade us from continuing forward, we will never reach our desired destinations. If, however, we espouse the right attitudes and keep our eyes on the prize, every setback, obstacle, or failure will become a chance to grow stronger--to learn valuable lessons and discover areas in our lives in which we might improve and do things better. With the right attitude, adversity essentially becomes a fancy word for growth opportunity.

Eat Healthy

Choosing fresh fruits and vegetables as well as lean meat and poultry are much better than eating junk foods, carbonated drinks, and fast foods. By eating healthy, you will receive the nutrients, vitamins, and energy that you need to combat the stress brought by a day’s work. As part of your effort to eat healthy, you should not forget to drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated and to remove toxins from your body.

Take Time to Relax

No matter how busy your schedule is, it is important that you take a break from the things that make you feel stressed and find time to clear your mind and relax. Whenever you’re at work, taking a break even for just a few minutes can make a big difference in the way you handle your job.

Exercising is an activity that will allow you to rejuvenate yourself. Exercising does not mean that you have to spend hours in the gym. There are certain activities that can help you become fit while still having fun. It is advisable that you engage in any type of exercise or physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day.

Get Enough Rest and Sleep

Resting and sleeping allows you to regain the energy that you have lost during the whole day’s work. Having enough sleep and rest also have an impact on your ability to function well, on your mood, and on your metabolism.

Practicing good hygiene is another way to take care of your body. This will prevent you from experiencing different kinds of diseases. Good hygiene means that you are health inside and out. You need to take a bath regularly, clean your teeth, trim your nails, put on clean clothes, and more.

I have known individuals who are like ducks when it comes to hurt-it seems that hurtful things simply roll off them and fall harmlessly to the ground, as rain does off the feathers of a duck. They have this beautiful ability to acknowledge the pain felt by those who are spreading the hurt, and express compassion, kindness, love, and forgiveness to those who would wish them harm. Their hearts rest much closer to a place of true love, a place where fear, control, and selfishness do not exist.

The lives we lead are largely defined by the love that exists within us and around us--the love that is given, and the love that is received. And if we can overcome our fear, worries, and doubts, and admit that there is love within us for all things both temporal and spiritual, our lives will be enriched and transformed in ways we cannot even fathom.

Once upon a time ….

A very poor man lived with his wife. One day, his wife, who had very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed.

The man felt very sorry and said no. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch he had just broken.

She did not insist on her request.

The man went to work and passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife.

He came home in the evening with the comb in his hand ready to give to his wife.

He was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short hair cut. She had sold her hair and was holding a new watch band.

Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes, not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love.

Moral of the story: To love is nothing, to be loved is something but to love and to be loved by the one you love, that is everything!

Some months ago, I posted a quote that says "if your faith does not annoy people, it is not Faith- you probably may have been faking it. Faith moves mountains dear friend, and not until you start believing the power of your story- by STICKING TO IT, you will remain a slave to what the world calls "reality"- basically what your five senses are saying, seeing, feeling and touching.

What is your story? What are you telling yourself everyday when you wake up or look at yourself in the mirror, against the naysayers or the state of the economy or your empty bank accounts or your state of obscurity. What is your story in spite of all these? Your story could be as simple as, I am a success story; I am enjoying a sound health; I see light at the end of the tunnel; I see the infinite; I am abundantly supplied; all my needs are met everyday; I am shining; life treats me good; the Universe favours me; I am rich and loaded and so on.It is as simple as that! The best things in life are the simplest things.

There is power in spoken words. Remember that when the cloud is full of rain, it will empty itself upon the surface of the earth. So even if it does not look like it, STICK TO YOUR STORY!

Nothing can happen to you that is not positive. Even though it looks and feels at the moment like a negative crisis, it is not!

Any disaster that you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow. Then, when looking back at your life, you will see that the moments which seemed to be great failures followed by wreckage were the incidents that shaped the life you have now. You will see that this is really true! Don't back down!

I know a woman of ninety-six who has the bright innocent face of a girl. I know a man well under middle age whose face is full of wrinkles. The one is as a result of a sweet and sunny disposition; while the other is the outcome of passion  and discontent.

As we cannot have a sweet and wholesome abode unless we allow the air and sunshine freely into our rooms, so a strong body and a bright, happy or serene countenance can only result from the free admittance into the mind of thoughts, joy and goodwill and serenity.

LET IT GO. Part 2

Harboring resentment or anger is like trying to sail our ships with the anchors dropped- we are not going to make it far and we are not going to experience much of life. And the only way forward is to let it all go- to acknowledge the hurt and the pain we feel, and then let it take its place in our past where it belongs.

Because as long as we keep it alive and allow it to interfere with our present- giving others power over us and allowing their words or actions to negatively affect us- we will continue to sabotage our happiness in life.

We cannot move our lives forward with the excess baggage of hurt and anger weighing us down.

Some of us are still mad at old lovers, former teachers, and folks from secondary school or University who did us wrong. When we have painful memories from hurting experiences, we may feel justified in holding on to the resentment. But resentment is corrosive. It does not affect the person we feel anger toward, it destroys the host!

The happiness we find in life is dependent primarily on our attitudes and our thoughts. If we consistently harbor negative ones, our happiness will be minimal or fleeting. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance always to remember that whatever we keep in our minds affects us deeply.

If we hold on to feelings of jealousy or resentment, not only are we the cause of our suffering but we essentially are suffering needlessly, and rarely do the thoughts of resentment and anger we harbor within have any effect at all on the individuals with whom we are resentful or angry at even if we fool ourselves into thinking they do.
