GUEST POST. A FOOT HAS NO NOSE

Image
Of the many interactions I had with my mother those many years ago, one stands out with clarity. I remember the occasion when mother sent me to the main road, about twenty yards away from the homestead, to invite a passing group of seasonal work-seekers home for a meal. She instructed me to take a container along and collect dry cow dung for making a fire. I was then to prepare the meal for the group of work-seekers. The thought of making an open fire outside at midday, cooking in a large three-legged pot in that intense heat, was sufficient to upset even an angel. I did not manage to conceal my feelings from my mother and, after serving the group, she called me to the veranda where she usually sat to attend to her sewing and knitting. Looking straight into my eyes, she daid "Tsholofelo, why did you sulk when I requested you to prepare a meal for those poor destitute people?" Despite my attempt to deny her allegation, and using the heat of the fire and the sun as

MICHAEL MICHALKO' S WORDS OF ADVICE

Image
A banana is hung on a string inside the cage and a set of stairs placed in the cage leading up to the banana. Whenever a monkey goes up the stairs and grabs the banana, ice-cold water is poured on all the monkeys in the cage. Very soon, as the monkeys begin to associate touching the banana with being sprayed with ice-cold water they will try to prevent one another from trying to get the banana. The cold water is then turned off and one monkey removed from the cage and replaced with another that doesn’t know anything about the cold water. This new monkey will inevitably try to get the banana, but the other four monkeys will attack him to stop him from doing so. If another of the old monkeys is removed and replaced with a newcomer, this newcomer will try to grab the banana. The previous newcomer will gladly take part in beating him up together with the other monkeys in order to prevent him from climbing the stairs to the banana. Slowly, all the original monkey can be re

GUEST POST. FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Image
When we think we are separate, we lose power. Whenever I say "my," I have lost my power. Power is not my power; it is not enlarging oneself as a separate individual. It is only gainable as part of a larger whole. Then you communicate with the rest of yourself--which may be a tree. You, reciprocally, are moved by the universe. Whenever you shut down connectedness, you get depressed. Psychic awareness breaks in as a gift. It is fearful to know we are connected to everything in the universe, because then we are responsible.

REFLECTION

Image
A wise person said “Often, our actions and assumptions continue long after the reasons for them have passed.” That is why picking up things and doing them because others have always done and continue to do them that way is never a good idea. Any person who desires to be a great success and be a leader both to themselves and to others must not take anything for granted. Stephen Covey said “we simply assume that the way we see things is the way they really are or the way they should be. And our attitudes and behaviours grow out of these assumptions.” Your assumptions can influence your attitudes and behaviours in a big way and so ultimately influence your future. It is always necessary in any given circumstance to ask the question “why?” before doing or not doing anything.

QUESTION FOR THE DAY

Who is pulling your strings? Who is in control of your life and your destiny? Do you have a clear picture of where you are and where you are going or are you blinded and walking around in a daze?

"TITHING WITH GRATITUDE"

Image
Why do we think that GOD punishes us because we did not pay our tithes? GOD loves us so much that while we were yet sinners, HE sent HIS only SON, JESUS CHRIST to die for our redemption!  Here's the inspiration: whenever you pay your tithe, do it as an act of gratitude to your loving FATHER, not out of fear that if you do not pay your tithe HE will send the devourer to attack your life/family. The Bible says that GOD is our rock and there is no wickedness in HIM. So why do we think that a LOVING FATHER will attack HIS children with sickness or mishaps because they did not pay their tithe? We have been fed with how GOD is a consuming fire who is always looking for offenders to deal with mercilessly, but left out the part that tells us that HE loves us so much that HE gave, that HE redeems our lives from destruction and crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies. You give to those you love, right? That tells us that love goes hand in hand with giving. Isnt it

SOME WEEKEND HEALTHY TIPS

Image
Maintain daily routine like getting up early in the morning and exercising (funny I haven't exercised in a while but I am seriously considering it..you too should because exercise is good for our hearts and healths generally),  and of course eating breakfast, which so many people ignore, having lunch, dinner and sleep.  Instead of fried food, eat baked or steamed food. Oily foods are not good for the heart. Take time to relax and meditate, it is very helpful for healthy life. Drink 8 to 10 glassed of water daily. This is one of my favourites.  For those of us who use cars for mobility, there is every tendency to get lazy that we use vehicle to go a very short distance. You should walk it sometimes, like using the steps instead of the elevator.  Ensure you have a restful night.
