Was Judas Isacariot not close to JESUS? Yet, JESUS knew who he was all along. 

Likewise, be intentional and sensitive about your environment and who you give access to your private life.

Proximity is not friendship. I agree we are in a social world and no man is an island, yet, wisdom is required when choosing your circle. That someone gives you a listening ear does not mean that they are genuinely interested. They may be listening to get more information about you. 

So, I will suggest that if you need to talk to someone about what you are going through, talk to yourself or write about it in your journal or a piece of paper. You can tear it or leave it, depending on what you want and how you feel afterwards. Always remember this: you cannot call someone a friend when that friendship has not been tested.
