THE MOST UNDERRATED SKILL IN LEADERSHIP: BEING INTERRUPTIBLE.

Leadership is not just about vision, strategy, or charisma.

Sometimes, it's about being interruptible.

Yes, interruptible.

The kind of leader who does not see a knock on the door as a distraction, but as an opportunity to connect. To listen. To be present.

Years ago, I had a brief, unplanned conversation with a senior leader,

one of the most unassuming people I’ve ever met.

He did not look down on me. He engaged. He listened.

That conversation lasted only a few minutes, but it planted a seed that grew into an opportunity.

Years later, that moment opened the door for me to get a significant role at one of the most reputable organizations in Nigeria.

It was not about my qualifications alone. It was about the memory of that moment, how I was seen, heard, and respected.

When you are interruptible, you are approachable.

And when you are approachable, trust is born.

And trust? That is where the real work gets done.

So, next time you are tempted to shut the door tight, ask yourself,

Who might need me more than my plan does right now?
