REFLECTION

How would you rate your ability to control your emotions, to pause before acting or reacting? How would your friends, children, or work colleagues rate your emotional control?  Has someone deeply offended you recently? How did you respond? Were you magnanimous? How would you respond differently if again given the same circumstances?  One of the highest forms of magnanimity is forgiveness. Is forgiveness a consistent part of who you are as a person?  When life comes at us hard, sometimes a portion of properly placed humor can help us to adapt. Have you learnt to laugh even in the midst of challenging moments?

CAN ONE POSSIBLY HIDE ONE'S SUCCESS?

Happy weekend friends. Just to share with you a little conversation I had with a colleague yesterday. Read below: Enkay: "I have come to realise that when you are happy and successful in your marriage or career or you are succeeding generally, people (friends) are not genuinely happy for you. But when u have a lot to complain about, advisers will be flowing in left, right and centre. I feel it is safe if one keeps some of those things going well for one with one and loved ones and do not make it so public for people to see".  Here's my response: Well... the truth is "a gold fish does not have a hiding place". So your success always announces you, no matter how hard you try to hide it. Then I ask, what do you do? Just be wise and hide yourself and all your successes to GOD.  Then and only then will you be safe!  Do you think my colleague is right? Do you think am right as well? Please share your thoughts.

LADIES, WHY DO YOU WANT TO GET MARRIED?

Do you want to get married because: You are of age? Your mates are getting married? You want to run away from your parents strict discipline? You want to have sex freely without feeling guilty? You need a man to support you financially? You are being pressurised to get married? You cannot face some challenges alone? You are lonely? You are not getting any younger? and alot more wrong reasons I believe these questions are very familiar. But I would like you to pause and reflect. Marriage is an institution of enjoyment not endurance (of pains, sorrow, bitterness to mention but a few). You need to get it right as to why you really want to get married, but definitely not for the above wrong reasons.  GOD is the originator of marriage and the perfect match maker. So it will be wise if you consult HIM. Your marriage must be ordained by GOD before you can be assured that nothing can and will ever go wrong no matter what.  Time to reflect!

DID YOU KNOW THAT PROBLEMS FEAR ACTIONS?

The problems you encounter do not define you. What matters is how you deal with these problems. Your ability to face your problems and conquer them makes it easier to handle challenges. Most importantly, you must identify what these problems are, because "you cannot fight what you are not aware of". Problems fear actions. These problems will remain until you take necessary steps (actions) to bring them to an end. I marvel at people who say " I do not have a price tag. I do not expect anything in return. I just want to live my life". And I really wonder where they got this mean idea from. If you do not have a price tag, then anyone can afford you. You are not valued. You can always be used and dumped. You will never be appreciated. That ideology of not expecting anything in return simply means you are not sure of your own self and as such you do not regard yourself. We are living in a world whereby you are treated the way you present yourself. If you are not treated with love, respect, appreciation, then there is every possibility that you might have marked yourself down! It is never too late to get back on. You must love yourself first before you can be loved by anyone else. By so, you will know when you are not getting the right treatment, love, care, affection, appreciation. I can vividly remember one of the songs we sang in our primary school days "good better best, I shall never rest, until my good is better, and my better best." I know a lot of you can resonate with that song, and I can imagine you smiling as you take a quick stroll down memory lane, remembering the way you as u sang the song along with friends and matched down to class after words of admonition from a significant order in school.  I can tell you that as at then, those words and songs were more of daily ritual because you have to be part of the assembly and morning devotion as the case may be. They barely made sense to me as an enthusiastic, playful child obviously because my mental astuteness could neither understand the degree to which it was relevant at that tender moment in my life nor apply it to my everyday life.  Significantly, as I most often than not, in retrospect, I bask in the thoughts of the words that I heard as a little child and it's amazing to

As we live life, it's important to put into cognizance the way we treat and respond to people whether they are engaged in the right activities, or their actions are off tangent with the right principles.  Here's a modest proposal: Make up your mind that for the rest of this year, you wouldn't judge your friends and people around you no matter what you experience with them or what you see them express, rather, offer to help the right kind of help that will salvage the circumstance.  Buying into judgement blurs your heart from seeing the good in people who are designed to contribute meaningfully to your life assignment. Take note of your thoughts and the things you say. Be completely aware of the times when you are being overly critical, and ask yourself why you feel that way. Are your thoughts rooted in reality, or are they coming from a place of fear and insecurity? Once you notice yourself being judgemental, you can take actions to reverse this self-destructive b

We create our own breaks as we take responsibility for our life-and that includes working hard and speaking up for ourselves. It gave Betty Ford no advantage to blame others for her problems or make excuses. Do you ever catch yourself blaming your problems or limitations on others, genetics or your environment? Maya Angelou did not allow adverse circumstances drive her life and attitudes. Do you let circumstances drive what you do in life, or do you create your own circumstances. Chuck Norris showed initiative and created his own breaks by standing up for himself and promising to do better. What level of initiative do you demonstrate when times are tough? Pause and Think!!!
